This Is How You Can Set Goals Like A Pro

Between juggling athletic obligations and school activities, being a student-athlete is extremely challenging. Not to mention, building a resume throughout college increases the pressures you are already facing.

College is the time to try and find your true self. You are trying to figure out what you’re good at, what you can make money at, and what is that one subject or activity you are truly passionate about.

Where these three questions meet, is what you should strive for.

Be SMART

Setting goals early in your college years is essential for creating your success in the future. All goals must be specific and must be refreshed in your brain every single day. It is okay if you choose to alter your goals throughout your journey, but always, ALWAYS, be specific.

To ensure success, you must be specific. Don’t be ambiguous. The more detail the better.

Make sure your goal is measurable. Being able to keep track of your goal is essential. By having a goal that is measurable, you can be able to analyze what you are doing and if there is anything you need to alter or keep the same on your journey.

Ensure that you goal is attainable. Be realistic. Give yourself a goal that you can accomplish. This doesn’t mean set a goal that’s already in your hands. Inquire a challenge, but don’t make a goal that is impossible for you to complete.

Next, make your goal relevant to your life. Lastly, set a start date, which should always be the day you make the goal, and an end date. This gives you a range and more motivation to accomplish your goal.

Always stay true to yourself through your journey. Remind yourself of who you are. Stay focused on your specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and timely goal.

“The road not taken”

All goals should be up to you and you only. Don’t follow someone else’s path. Be a leader. Create your own path. Don’t be afraid to take the road less traveled by. It is okay if your goal takes longer than expected or longer than your peers, continue to be confident and always stay true to yourself and you will receive greatness.

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
and that has made all the difference."
-Robert Frost
