Virginia Tech Expands Communication & Engagement With Current & Alumni Athletes

The Virginia Tech Hokies and the team at Athlete Network are thrilled to announce a new partnership with the goal of engaging all current and former student-athletes with available services and resources. The partnership launches a branded digital platform to organize, promote, and track the programs and services offered to their athletes.

Since officially organizing in 1895, the Virginia Tech Hokies now sponsor 22 varsity sports and join Clemson, Georgia Tech, Miami, NC State, and Syracuse as one of six ACC schools to power its customized network using Athlete Network's UNITE software.

“Virginia Tech is committed to providing a first-class experience for our student-athletes throughout their time in Blacksburg and beyond. We are thrilled to announce this new partnership with Athlete Network as it will provide endless opportunities to improve communication, increase engagement, and providing a lifelong networking hub. Both the current and former student-athlete experience is of the utmost importance to us and our goal is to ensure the latter always feel connected to the place they can always call home. This partnership allows us to reach for excellence in our engagement efforts.”
- Whit Babcock, Director of Athletics

“The partnership with Athlete Network will provide our student-athletes with the opportunity to maximize the resources available to them during their time at Virginia Tech and after graduation. The Athlete Network platform will provide alumni with opportunities to connect and network with other alumni, engage in mentorship opportunities with current Hokie student-athletes, as well as access to professional resources. We are excited to strengthen our engagement with and support of both current and former Hokie student-athletes through Athlete Network.”
- Reyna Gilbert-Lowry, Senior Associate Athletic Director, Student-Athlete Development/SWA

Along with expanding communication and engagement opportunities for their letterwinners, UNITE software will also immediately provide cutting edge data insights and reporting to athletic administrators, expand career resources, and cultivate relationships among all generations of Hokies.

"The technology and resources that Athlete Network provides will allow us to continue building relationships even after Hokie student-athletes leave campus. It will also provide our alumni student-athletes a vehicle in which to maintain their connection with Virginia Tech so that we can truly fulfill the mantra of 'Once a Hokie, Always a Hokie.'”
- Brian Walter, VT Monogram Club President

“Our team at Athlete Network is inspired to partner with Virginia Tech athletics and the Monogram Club as they strive to further nurture authentic relationships with their student-athletes over a lifetime. Through the UNITE software Virginia Tech will expand its reach and meet this deeply diverse group of student-athletes where they are, keep them intimately informed and drive connections to each other and the University they love. These connections will ultimately become a cornerstone of the Hokie culture."
- Candace Dunback, Director of Partnerships at Athlete Network

While the partnership is now official, former student-athletes can expect to learn more about the platform once it launches in August 2021.

Welcome to the team, VT! #hokies
